Individuals seeking the release of a towed vehicle should report directly to the tow company’s vehicle impound yard, where a Police Officer will assist to expedite the vehicle release process.

Vehicle releases are available 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday until further notice. During these hours, the Newark Police Division's Auto Squad can be contacted at: 973-733-5616 for additional information.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

Calls for service involving motor vehicle accidents will be screened for specific criteria.

Motor vehicle accident calls for service that do not involve bodily injury and where the motor vehicle is still operable will be directed to complete the New Jersey State Form online:

Parking

Enforcement of only parking violations that pose public safety hazards, such as the blocking of fire hydrants or parking in crosswalks, will be in effect until Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

All other parking violation enforcement is suspended until that time.

Street cleaning will also be suspended for the same period.
