Obtaining Police Reports

How do I pickup a completed police report?
You can pick up a police report after 3 business days at the City Annex building located between City Hall and 31 Green Street.

What are the times that someone can pick up a report?
Monday thru Friday from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm. All federal holidays are observed.

Is there any costs associated with getting a copy of my report?
Yes, the first page is $1.50 and $.75 for all additional pages, CASH ONLY we do not accept checks, credit or debit cards.

Can someone else pick up my report for me?
No, the only person that can get a copy of the report is the victim, this person must have a valid photo id.

What types of reports can I pick up?
You can currently get copies of Accident and Incident reports.

How are 911 & Non-Emergency Calls Processed

How are 911 cellular calls processed?
When a cellular caller dials 911, the signal will go from the cell tower; the network will capture the coordinates of the caller's location. If caller is in the City of Newark and within five miles of a highway the caller will be connected to the New Jersey State Police 911 Operator. Otherwise the caller will be connected to the City of Newark Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).

How are 911 calls processed?
When a 911 call is made, the call goes to a local center office. The call is then directed to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) along with Automatic Number Identification and Automatic Location Identification (ANI).

Remember: Only call 911 when a TRUE EMERGENCY EXISTS
